OPEN CALL

For this year’s Oskár Čepan Award 57 artists registered applications. The call for applications was closed on 9 April at midnight. Of the total number, 26 are male artists and 31 are female artists, eight of which are members of artistic duos. Their portfolios will be reviewed by an international jury consisting of experts in contemporary visual arts.

The international jury consists of Aaron Cezar (USA/UK; founder and director of the Delfina Foundation in London, member of the Turner Prize jury in 2021; former curator of the Hayward Gallery Project Space in London; curator of public programmes at the 58th Biennale in Venice), Amira Gad (EG/FR; director of Light Art Space Berlin; curator at Serpentine Galleries in London, 2014-2019; co-curator of the group exhibition Hack Space with Hans Ulrich Obrist at K11 Art Foundation in Honk Kong), Edith Jeřábková (CZ; main curator at PLATO Ostrava; founder of initiatives the Institute of Anxiety and Are I are-events.org), and Lilia Kudelia (UA/USA; hosting curator at the Residency Unlimited in New York; ex-curator at Dallas Contemporary in Texas, Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, and Art Arsenal in Kyiv; co-curator of the National Ukrainian pavilion at the 57th Biennale in Venice in 2017).

The first online jury meeting will be held on Tuesday, 26 April 2022 and the organizers will announce the selected artists’ names no later than Thursday, 28 April 2022. The cooperation with the shortlisted artists will get started in May this year; the exhibition opening of all shortlisted candidates is scheduled for mid-September. The second jury meeting will be held on 27 October 2022 in Bratislava.
